    What to expect The USS Emmons (DD-457/DMS-22) Length: The overall length of the Gleaves-class destroyers, including the USS Emmons, was about 348 feet (106 meters). Beam: The beam, or width, of the ship was approximately 36 feet (11 meters). Draft: The draft, which is the depth of the ship below the waterline, was around 11 feet (3.4 meters).
