D-ring

The D-ring on a BCD (Buoyancy Control Device) is a metal or plastic attachment point shaped like the letter “D.” These rings are strategically located on the BCD to provide divers with convenient and accessible points to secure various accessories or attachments. Commonly made of stainless steel or plastic, D-rings are often found on the shoulder straps, waistband, and other areas of the BCD.

Divers use D-rings to clip or attach equipment such as dive lights, gauges, knives, reels, or other accessories using snaps, clips, or carabiners. The presence of multiple D-rings allows divers to customize their gear setup, keeping essential tools within reach during a dive.

In essence, the D-ring is a practical and versatile feature of a BCD, providing attachment points for accessories that divers may need easy access to while exploring underwater.
